Dreaming

Back To The 80's - Eileen Reagan. ( :) I love being cast in shows.)

I had a dream last night - freaked me out a bit.

I'm in a classroom setting doing some project with a friend of mine from college named Keri, and our teacher was my theatre professor. Random. Anyway, we were using these high tech screen things that were interactive and web-based so we could get info and stuff just using the handheld screens, and I was looking up the name of something on planet earth to use for the project. The encyclopedia screens were based on real time, so you could see what was going on in space and in the real world using them, etc. I checked mine and it was on a space view of the planet, and all of a sudden I see this white flare in space next to the earth and a bolt of something lanced straight out and through our planet, and I don't know how I knew but it was something horrific, and I dropped the screen and covered my ears, dreading what would come next.

I had this flat, emotionless realization that this was the end of the world, the utter end of it all, I was going to die and so was everyone else and there was nothing we could do about it. I was afraid of how it was going to happen - I thought maybe it would be sudden and harsh, but I just accepted it because what was I going to do, hide? There was this huge rushing, explosive sound, and the world began to go red and shimmery as the heat blew apart everything, and I felt my skin burning and the room around me shaking. We were all screaming.

Then it was over, just like that, but I was alive. Keri was too, and so was my teacher and some other people. My skin was cherry red and burned hideously, it hurt like the worst sunburn imaginable, but I was alive. The desks were shattered and everything was charred and there were dead people scattered around. We'd lived, though, and I had this sinking feeling and a sudden desperation to find my parents. Half of the world was dead and burned up instantly, and I needed to find my parents.

My cell phone worked but my mom's phone went straight to voicemail. I started crying and getting more scared because I didn't want to live post-apocalypse without my family. I kept calling and it was just her voicemail, so I had hope that maybe it was just off and she was alive somewhere. I called my dad and he picked up, terrified and a little weak but he was so happy I was alive, and he said my mom was with him, her phone was off and it wouldn't turn on anymore. I was crying and my skin hurt and I didn't understand what had happened, and then I woke up.

most definitely. I'm currently attempting my first prose piece ever, and I feel that vampires make for rather good inspiration ^.^
